Selection of the most appropriate type of gate operator will include consideration of factors including gate length and weight , frequency of operation, site constraints, aesthetics and budget. Be aware that "one size fits all" definitely does NOT apply to automation.
Clad faced gates require heavier duty gate operators to handle the wind resistance forces that these types of gates encounter.

Articulated Arm
operators work with an elbow like action coming together to open the gate,
extending in line to close.
They are relatively inexpensive, quiet in operation and dependable. |

Linear Actuator
operators as shown, have a cylindrical body
enclosing a screw drive. |
