Sliding Gates Adelaide
A very popular type of gate installation, sliding gates may be an alternative to a swing gate system.
Sliding gates should ALWAYS be fitted so they slide horizontally and NOT on a slope. There are several reasons for this: the weight of a gate opening and closing on a slope may overload the motor. Also, if a gate of sufficient weight needs to be manually slid open or closed, the required manual effort may present a safety issue. Invariably, industrial installations of larger sliding gates are automated not just for convenience of access or egress but also for OHWS reasons.
There are a number of types of sliding gates available:
Ground track slider
The ground track slider is the most common and most economical sliding gate system incorporating a ground track supported by a concrete footing which extends across the driveway opening and requires sufficient room to slide behind the fence to reach its fully open position. We also offer traffic barriers for everyone in Adelaide.
Cantilever gate
The cantilever gate system does not require a strip footing and track which means existing paving may be undisturbed. The driveway can remain in use, even whilst the cantilever system is being installed. It has a track and rollers incorporated in its base rail. Used more commonly previously in industrial applications where a driveway does not need to be closed off to do the strip footing and track installation. Today’s cantilever gate systems no longer need look ‘industrial’. They can be readily combined with attractive tubular gates and fences in a residential environment.
